through the blood he can look, see the life that he took
From council of one
He'll decide when he's done with the innocent
On his face is a map of the world
(A map of the world)
On his face is a map of the world
(A map of the world)
From yesterday, it's coming!
From yesterday, the fear!
From yesterday, it calls him
But he doesn't want to read the message
He doesn't want to read the message
Doesn't want to read the message here
On his face is a map of the world
The lyrics seem to me as if they are talking about a dictator who has fallen from popularity like most dictators often do. Its always the same with dictators. The established government does something to upset the citizens, sometimes it could have been avoided sometimes not. When all the people are mad at their government, some guy who is charismatic but probably not all that sane comes along and shouts "Hey people of said country, make me your unquestionable leader and I promise I'll fix the problems these clowns in government have made." Naturally the people say OK cause the guy is charismatic. When in power, the guy fixes the problem kinda but doesn't really consider that running the government is kinda like a juggling act and pretty soon he drops some balls. People start living under terrible conditions and maybe civil war breaks out or violent extremist groups start popping up. stuff generally goes bad for that country for sometime.
That is a really basic outlook on dictatorships. It is probably the farthest thing from true but that how i would base my story if i were doing something ridiculous like a cartoon about dictatorships. Maybe add an anvil. I didn't mean to offend anyone because i know it can be a sensitive topic.
My opinion (for what it matters): Giving one person unquestionable power is most likely a bad idea.
I think you should send an anvil to Harper . . . speaking of dictators . . . and anvils
